The pandemic has thrown into high relief some of the longstanding issues surrounding working conditions in meatpacking facilities. John Oliver explains why greater oversight is needed, and how we can go about getting it.

You only have to look to China to find the solution. Most of these jobs are automated there. So the solution to avoiding providing these horrible jobs is just to eliminate them with automation. So no more meat for the working class? That’s what you’re proposing. John... you lost me at 17 minute mark. The solutions you present are not practical. Social distancing for meet workers? C’mon man??? If you have been a white kid working at a fish processing plant in the summer making $15 to $20 an our, you know why these jobs exist and why people take them. It’s good money for a skill you can learn quickly an earn overtime easily. I expect my son to get a job when he is 14/15 but he won’t if the minimum wage is 15 bucks per hour.

Every fast food job I've had since Obama care was passed forces me to sign a waiver turning down Insurance in order to get enough hours to barely survive. With Covid I was forced to sign a piece of paper acknowledging that if at any point I felt unsafe because of the epidemic, I could not take advantage of unemployment. The US is trash. I know when you work in the media, it may be hard to see. But its not just meat plants..... its everywhere. We *DONT* matter to our employers and thanks to a specific fascist political party that recently attempted to take over the government... we don't matter to the government either. We have no rights, and we will absolutely never receive them. I keep saying, you can't both make life unbearable, and make suicide illegal. Pick one and only one.

If you are into lying, cheating, bitterness, keeping malice, pride, manifesting anger, quarrelling, unforgiving, hatred, envy, contention, strife, bitterness, cursing, speaking evil of others, taking or giving bribe, selfishness, deception, kidnapping, smuggling, falsification of documents, swearing, extortion and other sinful character dispositions, you must repent (Colossians 3:5-9; Romans 1:29-32; Proverbs 6:16-19). Such evil and wicked character will hinder the manifestation of God’s abundant blessings upon your life. If you are into lust, masturbation, fornication, adultery, prostitution (private or public), patronizing prostitutes, abortion, lesbianism, homosexuality, bestiality, watching pornography (I Corinthians 6:9-10), immoral thoughts or any act of immorality, you need to repent (Galatians 5:19-21; Mathew 5:28; Mark 7:21-23). Jesus loves you and wants to save you. Visit this church, 'THE LORD'S CHOSEN CHARISMATIC REVIVAL MOVEMENT'. www.tlccrm.org OR www.tlccrm.org/chosentvOR fititle.info Are you into idolatry? Are you into cultism, whether open or secret cult? Do you practice witchcraft or Yoga? Do you smoke cigarette or cannabis? Do you sell them or offer them to people? Do you smoke or sniff hard drugs such as cocaine, heroin, captain black, hashish or other banned drugs or snuff? Are you lusting - lusting after men or women, covetous, alcohol drinking (proverbs 31:4-6)? You must repent, stop them and give your life to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Are you into marry and divorce? Then you are a sinner. Are you married to more than one person? Repent!! Marriage is between a man and a woman. Marriage is for better and for worse until death separates (Matthew 19:3-6). ‘Wherefore they are no more two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together let no man put asunder (separate)’. Cheating on your wife or husband is sin. Proverbs 28: 13 says, ‘‘He that covers his sins shall not prosper...You must repent of them, confess and forsake them (1 John 1:9). Are you into worldliness? Don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? (James 4:4; II John2:15-17). So, you must stop bleaching your body or painting your mouth, eyes, hands and legs or fixing attachments, weave-on, earrings (Genesis 35:2-4), bangles, chains and frying or perming your hair. Tattooing your body is satanic. Are you one of those that put on nude dresses, short skirts, transparent dresses to seduce men or women (a Seducer or a Promoter of lust is a Sinner - Mathew 5:28) Perhaps you wear trousers as a woman? (Read Deuteronomy 22:5), that is an abomination (Revelation 21:8, 27). Therefore, make up your mind, repent and give your life to Jesus Christ. Are you spoilt? Jeremiah 4:30 says, ‘‘And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee. They will seek thy life’’. (2 Kings 9:30; Hosea 2:13; Exodus 33:1-6) A Christian is not a Sinner and a Sinner is not a Christian (I John 3:9). If you must be a blessed child of God, then you must repent of your sins and give your life to Jesus Christ. If you believe Jesus Christ today, righteousness of God will come into your life and abundant life will be your portion (1 John 11-12). If you neglect this call to repentance and salvation and die, you will not escape fire of Hell (Hebrews 2:3). It is foolishness and sin to say or think that there is no God (Psalm 14:1; 9:17). Luke 13:3, Jesus said, ‘I tell you, Nay: but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish’. Cut off every besetting sin (Hebrew 12:1-2; Mark 9:43-48). If you have decided now (2 Corinthians 6:2) to give your life to Jesus Christ and to forsake your sinful lifestyle, please say this prayer: Almighty God, I come unto you in the name of Jesus. Father I confess that I am a sinner. All my sins I confess to you. I am very sorry for all my sins (mention those you can remember). Lord I promise you that from today I will never continue in them anymore. I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again on the third day for my justification. Almighty God, use the blood of Jesus to wash my sins away. Lord Jesus, come into my heart, be my Lord and personal Saviour. I surrender my life to you. Cancel my name from the books of death and write it in the book of life. Give me power to sin no more. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!! Cheongju District Public Prosecutors' Office Hello S. Korean Prosecutor, I am the one who traveled abroad a lot and who had been suffering from depression 4 years ago due to my family's abuse and violence, and who were forcibly held by mob of the prosecutor's office with a small amount of MDA's income for treatment, had extreme depression and almost committed suicide. This is Lee Mi-jin, who was spied for revealing corrupt politician to the world. Can I ask a few questions? I haven't been in Korea for more than 20 years, and I have been traveling around the world on my own, meeting meditation teachers from many countries, meeting stewardships from many countries, and passing on the knowledge and experiences I have acquired to people all over the world. Do you still agree I have to pay $11,000 fine? Did you seize my computer for that small amount MDMA and spy all my personal data? And Why did you spy me? Do you know how many months have suffered from schizophrenia because of trauma since then? Did you know that my family, relatives, friends and colleagues have been branded as criminals and as criminals on my lifetime social security records? Did you have to listen to my private life by dressing up my best friend in elementary school as a coffee shop employee, and dressing up my 20 years old best friend as a spy at a yoga academy and at a bar? When I was threatened by teach the dharma and meditation in a Christian country in Brazil, I visited s.Korea again after 10 years, and went to the Taebaek mountain temple to ask for help in a place to meditate. But you trash me just because you believe women can not be enlighten? And the prosecutor had to dress up as a house buyer for spying me a flat? where I meditate for 3 month in silence. Did you came in my room and checked what I eat? What do I read? What I have that small flat?

In the 1970s, the meatpackers had the highest-paid factory jobs in America. The jobs were brutal, but unionized and mostly white blue collar workers. The companies moved the companies south and hired nonunion. They they bagan hiring immigrant workers at even lower pay. then they began hiring illegal immigrants at even lower pay. Then they donated to elected officials to create a visa worker just for them to hire more immigrants at even lower pay. people who say we need immigrants to do these terrible jobs are just pushing an open border corporate globalist narrative that destroys wages and job opportunities for American workers who used to do all of these jobs when they were not paid slave wages. Oliver always pretends he is sticking it to the man. When it comes to immigration he is the man.
